We gave a studio talk on the number that keeps most app founders awake: first-week retention.

The curve is brutal and predictable. Most apps lose more than three quarters of new users within seven days, and almost all of that loss happens in the first session. If the app has not proven its worth before the user puts the phone down, it rarely gets a second chance.

We walked through onboarding flows from our own apps, including one that tested badly, and showed what moved the curve. Less asking, more doing. Value before the sign-up form, not after.

The room pushed back hardest on permission timing, which was the point. Slides are shared with attendees on request.
